From the Advisory Board

June 4, 2020

Our hearts are broken over the deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and too many others who have lost their lives to violence and systemic racism. Being a Christian is about following in the footsteps of Jesus, studying his teachings, letting his Spirit take the lead in our lives, and helping to change the world from our nightmare into God’s dream. We seek the beloved community, a world where all people experience dignity, enjoy abundant life, and respect each other as beloved children of God. We know that God is present with us, providing the strength we need to sit with our grief and fears, and to mobilize us in love: to seek justice and to support the well-being and the welfare of others, as well as ourselves.

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.”  Ephesians 6:12-15.
