[Holy Trinity Inwood, Manhattan] Partial demolition work began yesterday in the former Chapel of the Redeemer on the site of Holy Trinity Inwood on the corner of Seaman Avenue and Cumming Street.
Holy Trinity’s original construction plans from the late 1920s called for the demolition of the sanctuary to make way for a planned gothic-revival church that was never built.
Russo Development Enterprises Inc. is performing the work.
Demolition work will take place Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. or weekends and outside of these hours per DOB After Hours Variances. Work is expected to take two to three months.
This work is the first phase in conjunction with planned renovation and restoration work on the historic Parish House and Drill Hall as a new church home and community programming space for Holy Trinity Church Inwood.
